The Business Club of MPC has two campus advisors. This page will be devoted to their thoughts, observations, and encouragements regarding BCMPC activity.
About the advisors: Dan Fox, Ph.D., is an instructor of Speech and chair of the Speech Department. He teaches courses such as Public Speaking, Group Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and Intercultural Communication. His doctoral program included the study of organizational development and communication, as well as leadership communication. As a college student he was actively involved in student clubs, first participating in Phi Rho Pi (a speech competition club and national community college association), and later in graduate school council.

Advisor Corner: Dan Fox, Ph.D.
There is such potential in the BCMPC group! I see some excellent opportunites available, from service-oriented projects (like the Iraq Support project, and the Thanksgiving Family Dinner project), to business community contact projects (such as business consulting, business service, and Business Plan development). Peter's leadership is strong, and he has a solid vision for the future of the club, which includes full participation for everyone. The club is at that early stage when we need to form an on-going base of membership, and this takes some inventive marketing by the group.
I suggested, at the 28Oct03 meeting, that some copies of the basic flyer be provided to me so that I can distribute them in my classes. This is the sort of thing that will REALLY get students' attention. However, BETTER than my say-so in front of the class would be the voice of BCMPC members. BCMPC members might consider this idea: grab some copies of the flyer (once Peter is done with a final version) and ask your respective professor if they wouldn't mind if you took just one minute of class time to share the BCMPC opportunity! I believe most instructors would be quite open to it, and it wouldn't take you but 30-60 seconds. Afterward you could give flyers to those who asked for one. Be sure to share the Benefits with them, such as (1) Learning more about business, (2) Making connections with local business leaders, (3) Connecting with other MPC students during fun projects, and (4) Enhancing your resume with academic club involvement (something that also tends to help in a transfer to a university).
